Gunning group scores research 'hat trick'

The year is off to a busy start for Professor Patrick Gunning and his medicinal chemistry laboratory. Gunning, of the Department of Chemical & Physical Sciences is one of nine U of T researchers to receive a Connaught Innovation Award, a prize aimed at accelerating the development of promising technologies and promoting knowledge transfer arising from the U of T. The nine researchers will share almost $820,000 in funding.

Gunning received the award for the development of a rapid diagnostic test for bacterial infections of blood and cerebrospinal fluid. Read the full story at U of T News.

At the same time, Gunning's start-up company, Dalriada Therapeutics, won the FACIT [Fight Against Cancer Innovation Trust] Prospect Fund Award, which comes with a $200,000 prize.
