Q&A Session with Writer and Screenwriter Alice Urciuolo (Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2026)

Alice Urciuolo will join students from ITA351H5S Creative Writing in Italian Studies for a virtual conversation via Zoom.
The conversation with Alice Urciuolo will focus on her novel Adorazione (Adoration), recently adapted into the Netflix series Adoration, directed by Stefano Mordini.
Adorazione is a coming-of-age novel that intertwines the lives of a group of adolescents in a small town in Lazio, revolving around the mysterious death of a young girl. Through multiple perspectives, the novel explores friendship, desire, guilt, and the fragile process of growing up, while examining how trauma and secrecy shape individual and collective identities.
During the Q&A session, Urciuolo will also discuss her approach to creative writing and storytelling, addressing narrative strategies and techniques that students in ITA351 are currently studying (such as point of view, characterization, dialogue, setting, and adaptation from novel to screen). Students will have the opportunity to ask questions about her writing process, the transition from page to screen, and the challenges of writing for both literature and television.
The conversation will be conducted in Italian and English.
