The Course

The design of the human body. Topics include major organ systems and connecting multiple systems through integrating structure and function. A comparative approach is taken, placing the design of the human body in an evolutionary context.

The Trip

During the Winter Reading week, Travel with Professor Sanja Hinic-Frlog and a small group of students to Lima, Peru. Visit the local communities ­­and interact with the locals to learn more about their lives and personal stories. Learn about the traditional medicine and how culture plays a role into everyday activities. We will also learn about the indigenous cultures and their practices, all while adventuring in ways that you might not have before.

Travel Dates: Friday, February 14 2020 – Sunday, February 23 2020

Payments

Estimated cost of International Component 2019-2020: CAD $3700-$4000

*The amount posted is currently under review by the University Business Board. Approved amounts will be confirmed in March 2019. 

What is Included: Flights, transportation, accommodation, meals and in-country activities associated with the course. Funding Available!

What is NOT Included: Course fees, fees associated with travel insurance, trip cancellation insurance, additional optional tours/activities while abroad, visa applications, medical exams, vaccinations, and any other additional costs.

  • This experience is offered with the generous support of the Office of the Dean, which means; bursaries will be awarded based on demonstrated financial need (not linked to OSAP) as shown in your funding request in your UTM Abroad application.

  • Students must be enrolled in BIO210Y5Y and will be required to abide by the corresponding UTM Abroad application requirements and deadlines to participate in the international experience.
  • Payments can be made over five installments. Fees must be paid in full by the required deadlines.
