As part of your Master of Science in Sustainabilty Management you have the opportunity to go on exchange in the first semester of your second year. There are pathways at Lund University, the University of Geneva and the University of Copenhagen that will allow you to spend a semester abroad gaining credits towards your UTM degree.

 With any exchange it is vital you work with your academic department to determine the equivalencies for all courses you take overseas before you depart.

Lund University, Sweden

Lund University is the top-ranked university of Sweden, and it is one of the oldest and broadest universities in northern Europe. Lund University is the best choice for international students studying in Sweden due to its unique combination of traditional student nations (social clubs), an academic society and student unions organizing various events and activities year round. In Lund, about 90% Swedes speak English. Many companies, that have taken sustainability management seriously, such as Ericsson, Tetra Pak, and Gambro and Alfa Laval, are located in Lund and cooperate with the University.

Lund University has been a driving force for sustainable development. A number of graduate programs at Lund have courses that relate directly to sustainability challenges.

Master’s Program in Energy Efficient and Environmental Building Design

Exchange students on a Master's level are welcome to choose courses provided that they are eligible and there are places available. Please note that the entire program is given at our Helsingborg campus, thus students will either have to ask for accommodation near the Helsingborg campus or stay in Lund and commute (it takes about 20 minutes with the surface metro which is very frequent). University of Geneva, Switzerland

The University of Geneva (UNIGE), founded in 1559 by Jean Calvin, is dedicated to thinking, teaching, dialogue and research. The university is the second largest university of Switzerland. The university has about 16,000 students from more than 140 nationalities.

Similar to the city of Geneva, the university has a strong international reputation, both for the quality of its research and the excellence of education. The university ranks among the top institutions among the League of European Research Universities. The university has strong ties to many national and international Geneva-based organizations, such as the World Health Organization, the International Standards Organization, the International Telecommunications Union, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and the European Organization for Nuclear Research.

Geneva, due to the presence of multiple international government and non-government organizations, is hub for sustainable development activities.

The University offers two graduate programs where MScSM students can possibly pick up credits.

Master in Standardization, Social Regulation and Sustainable Development

This program brings together in a single curriculum three thematic pillars: standardization, sustainable development, and social regulation. The program is offered through a partnership between the University of Geneva and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

In addition to this unique program in Sustainable Development, many courses offered by the Master in Environmental Science may be useful to MScSM students. Please note this program is taught in French

Master in Environmental Science 

This program offers five modules for specialization: (i) Biodiversity ecosystems and society; (ii) Climate, climatic impacts and governance; (iii) Sustainable development, urbanization, and public action; (iv) Energy; and (v) Water sciences. 


University of Copenhagen, Denmark

The University of Copenhagen is the largest institution of research and education in Denmark. Eight researchers from the university have been awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics and Medicine.  An Annual Commemoration is held on campus in November, which the Queen of Denmark regularly attends.
