BIO326• Ornithology

Travel to Ecuador this fall reading week with a small group of your peers and Professor Sanja Hinic-Frlog. The start and end of your journey in the bustling city of Quito will be contrasted by delving into the diverse landscapes Ecuador has to offer. Explore the biodiversity of the Bellavista Cloud Forests that stretch across the slopes of the Andean mountains. Then journey deep into the Cuyabeno Reserve to explore the Amazon rainforest and a whole new landscape of flora and fauna. Connect with Indigenous populations leading conversation efforts in Ecuador to compare and contrast with the Canadian experience. Throughout the trip, you will pay particular attention to local bird species with the assistance of local guides.

The Trip: Ecuador Fall Reading Week

Payments 

Estimated cost of International Component 2023-2024: CAD $3650.00 - $3950.00

What is Included: Flights, transportation, accommodation, meals, in-country activities associated with the course, and trip-cancellation insurance. Funding Available! 

What is NOT Included: Course fees, fees associated with supplemental travel insurance, additional optional tours/activities while abroad, visa applications, medical exams, vaccinations, and any other additional costs. 

 

Funding 

Bursaries will be awarded based on demonstrated financial need (not linked to OSAP) as shown in your funding request in your UTM Abroad application. Read more about funding here

If you have applied for a bursary- You will hear back about your bursary application at the same time as your trip application.

Need To Know 

  • The cost and itinerary are subject to change. 

  • Preference will be given to students enrolled in BIO326H5F
  • You will be required to abide by the corresponding UTM Abroad application requirements and deadlines to participate in the international experience.
  • Fees must be paid in full by the required deadlines. 

  • To prepare for the trip, students attending will participate in the mandatory pre-departure and safety abroad sessions.
