CsF Course Enrolment

As a CsF student, you are required to enrol in 4 courses during each of your academic terms with a total 2.0 credit weight for each academic semester. Course enrolments are done based on availability of your preferred courses; therefore, you will be required to select more than 4 courses as we cannot guarantee enrolment in your top choices. CsF students cannot enrol using ACORN/ROSI, all course requests must be sent directly to the International Education Centre (IEC).

Please read through the information below to find out the steps you will need to take to enrol in courses at UTM.

Things to Keep in Mind:

  • All courses selected must be classified as sciences (SCI) and must be directly related to your program of study in Brazil;
  • You must meet the course prerequisites as indicated in the Academic Calendar to be able to enrol in a course;
  • Concentrate on second and third year courses as fourth year courses have very limited availability and enrolment preference is given to graduating students;
  • No first year courses will be accepted;
  • Computer Science students are encouraged to take one CCT course per semester;
  • UTM students are only eligible to enrol in UTM courses.

Steps to register

  1. Review the Academic Calendar to view the course descriptions and find courses of your interest;
    • Each course will have a specific code (e.g. BIO304H5F).
      • The first three letters determine the discipline the course is related to (e.g. BIO = Biology)
      • The first three numbers determine the year of study the course is associated with (e.g. 304 = ┬áthird year, 204 = second year)
      • The last three components determine if it is a full year course, over both the fall and winter terms (e.g. Y5Y) or a half year course (e.g. H5F = only fall term, H5S = only winter term)
  2. Determine if you are eligible to take the course by reviewing the course prerequisites and verifying that the courses you have taken abroad satisfy those requirements
    • It is the student's responsibility to determine if they are eligible to take a course. Please make sure that you have taken the necessary prerequisite courses at your home institution before choosing your UTM courses.The associated department will verify this information and may deny enrolment if the prerequisites are not met.
  3. Determine the lecture (LEC), tutorial (TUT) and practical (PRA) you would like to enrol in by visiting the Course Timetable;
    • Not all courses will have a tutorial or practical associated with the lecture
    • If a course does not appear in the Timetable, then it is not being offered. Therefore, you may NOT select the course.
  4. Verify that there are no scheduling conflicts by selecting your LEC, TUT, and PRA on the Course Timetable and clicking "add courses to my timetable plan" on the left hand side of the page
    • It is the student's responsibility to determine that there are no scheduling conflicts with any of the courses and associated tutorials and/or practicals selected.
