Infant and Child Studies Centre

Are you curious about children's language, music, cognitive, and social-emotional development?

The Infant and Child Studies Centre at the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) was established in 1973 for the purpose of studying children’s perception of speech and music. Over the years, while infants and children engage in game-like tasks at our state-of-the-art facility, we have gathered valuable information about the development of babies and children from 4 months to 15 years of age. There are four labs associated with the Centre: Dr. Elizabeth Johnson's Child Language and Speech Studies Lab, Dr. Samuel Ronfard's Childhood Learning and Development Lab, Dr. Glenn Schellenberg's Music & Cognition Lab, and Dr. Tina Malti's Labratory for Social-Emotional Development and Intervention.
