Len Brooks

Len Brooks, Professor of Business Ethics & Accounting, has been the Director of the University of Toronto’s online Master of Forensic Accounting (MFAcc) Program and the forerunner program, the graduate Diploma in Forensic & Investigative Accounting (DIFA), since their inception in 2001.  He has been an instructor, presenter, innovator, and advisor on online teaching and webinar presentations for almost two decades.  The online nature of the MFAcc and DIFA Programs have enabled students worldwide to receive an excellent, comprehensive education they would not have otherwise had, and to become the largest group of forensic accounting master’s graduates in the world.

Rafael Chiuzi

Rafael Chiuzi, Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream, has worked with online education for almost ten years back at his previous University. He was part of the University team that implemented the Online Education Unit in 2007. Rafael was one of the first ten instructors and later promoted to Coordinator of the HR Online course. Rafael brings to this Taskforce his online teaching and change management experience as well as boundless energy and creativity.

Debby Keown
Debby Keown has been with the Master of Forensic Accounting Program (n. DIFA) for over 13 years.  She was instrumental in sourcing and implementing the current online platform used for the delivery of the program’s online courses almost 13 years ago.  In her role as Program Officer, she creates the online classes for each course, sets up the logistics of the course to maximize the complete student experience and assists Instructors with best practice approaches.  Debby sits in on all the online classes to give technical support, advise on possible delivery options and support the instructor where necessary.  Debby says the success of an effective online program begins with communication with students and instructors, written instructions prior to each class directing students to their role and readings for the upcoming class and properly sourced and copyright approved online readings.

Helen Kula

As the Head of Instruction for UTM Library, Helen Kula was one of the leads in the development of an online Remote Teaching Toolkit for Librarians launched soon after the closure of all libraries on all three campuses in response to COVID-19.  Helen is also coordinating the roll-out of a new online tutorial creation tool with her UTSC counterpart to facilitate database-specific instruction online.  She has taught online in both academic and professional development settings for a number of years and is looking forward to doing so again this summer within IMI.  Helen can help instructors navigate the Library’s rich but deep collections to find the right electronic resources, such as video or online tutorials, for both syllabus ‘readings’ and course integration.  She can also connect faculty to other sources of expertise within the Library as needed.

Otto Yung

Prior to coming to UTM, Professor Otto Yung was one of the early pioneers of video/online recordings to complement the Rotman Risk Management Course. The course grew in popularity and has more than doubled. Given this track record, Otto was appointed to be the Program Director for Rotman's Executive Program for ICBC which includes working with lab simulations supported by video/online support. These online/remote resources were applied across campuses to support growing enrollment levels. Otto was also an early adopter of in-lab (computer-based) exams at UTM that were brought over from a course that he taught at UOIT. In his corporate past life, Otto was part of the leadership team that implemented new information technology for a multi-billion dollar company across the country. He trained the trainers and hundreds of employees to use new tools to work more efficiently in their roles.
