Developing a Winning Strategy- 1 day

A strategy is a sequence of contingent choices. However not all choices are the outcomes of decisions and not all decisions are strategic.  A “winning strategy” implies making better strategic choices. It is about the choices that leaders make using uncertain information as they strive to achieve optimal economic and non-economic consequences for their organizations relative to their competitors.

This full-day session will be delivered by Prof. Kevin Yousie, a faculty member at the Institute for Management & Innovation at the University of Toronto Mississauga and President of the strategy consultancy, Crosswater Partners. Throughout the day Kevin will actively engage you in exploring the critical questions that need to be considered in developing and successfully implementing a winning strategy.  You will have a practical, hands-on opportunity to apply strategy frameworks, concepts, and processes from the field of strategic management to your organization’s unique situation. In today’s world of rapid change, interdependency, and amorphous industry definition, developing and successfully executing winning strategies has become more challenging and complex.

Who Should Attend:

No matter where you are in your career, this program will assist you in enhancing and implementing your winning strategy.  It will be of particular interest to those involved in leading strategy.

Crafting a Performance Scorecard- 1 day

Whether, how, and how-fast organizations implement their strategies can have profoundly positive or negative implications. Economic outcomes, organizational culture and morale, as well as the organization’s ability to compete can all be impacted. An effective set of organizational performance metrics, implemented in the right way, can align an organization and facilitate the successful implementation of strategy. Development and implementation of these metrics is a collaborative journey and leaders need to bring others along with them (i.e. other members of the leadership team, employees, and in all likelihood members of the board and potentially other external stakeholders as well).

This full-day session will be delivered by Prof. Kevin Yousie, a faculty member at the Institute for Management & Innovation at the University of Toronto Mississauga and President of the strategy consultancy, Crosswater Partners. Throughout the day Kevin will actively engage you and provide you with a process to develop and implement performance metrics that will positively and proactively drive behaviours and choices so your organization will gain traction in implementing its’ strategies (i.e. these metrics are sometimes referred to as dashboards, road maps, balanced scorecards, etc.).

Who Should Attend:

This program will be of interest to leaders at all levels who are responsible for the implementation of organizational strategy and / or organizational performance.  In addition to for-profit companies, this program will also be valuable to leaders in not-for-profit and government organizations as well.
