Innovation is more than a buzz word; as today’s corporations and societies face challenges, actionable innovation will drive change and lead tomorrow’s business environment. This course introduces leading edge frameworks for analyzing and implementing innovation in organizations.  As innovation is constantly changing, this course looks at popular innovation theories and implementation methods to help companies, startups and individuals implement their own innovation strategies. We will intend innovation in broad sense: not only in technologies, but also in organization, strategies, and business models.  Engage with material in a combination of lecture and workshop teaching methods that will not only help you develop value for your ideas, but learn how to sell your idea within an organization or market.

Professionals looking to create change in their organization or individuals looking to start something new.  Participants should have the ability and responsibility to start new projects or ventures.
 

Want to create immediate value for your organization? Send a team of 4-6 to work on your company’s concept to advance your own innovation in the UofT learning environment.Individuals will be put into groups for hands on workshops and will work through case concepts and ideas generated from your group.

Finding and Solving Profitable Problems- 2 days

This course will focus on developing and finding intrinsic connections with potential customers to help you develop strategies ensuring product launch success. Discussion topics will include crowd sourcing / funding, problem identification, design thinking, customer centric engagement, finding your tribe and marketing basics.

Who should attend:

Involved in launching products, programs, or initiatives? This course is for you.  If your role involves customer recruitment, development, product input, this course will help you develop your sales skills to be a contributing part of the design process.

Intro to Entrepreneurship -1 day

Learn about which type of company structure is best for you and how to make those crucial first few steps as you explore launching your own product or company.  Topics will include initial structure, legal requirements, financial discovery, and business plan basics, along with a look at historically successful as well as unsuccessful entrepreneurial ventures.
