Telephone Service

Requests for new telephone service or changes to existing service must be submitted by accessing the WEB Telephone Request Form:
All repair requests can now be reported directly to Bell Canada by dialing 1-800-661-2190.

Most departments and faculties have a designated individual who handles telephone requests for that department. Requests for service should be processed by the department telephone co-coordinator who will then send the request to Telecommunications. When requesting service, please describe changes you are requesting in detail. If you have questions, contact Telecommunications. Also, please visit our website for information on:

  • purchase of telephone sets
  • billing information
  • voice mail instructions

In order to process telephone orders as quickly as possible, and to maintain accurate records, the following information MUST be included on requests.

  • Department - Name of Department/Faculty
  • Address - Full official street address, room number and building number (see U of T homepage for Maps)
  • User Name - For voice mail - both first and last name of person being assigned the service
  • Telepphone Number - The full 10 digit number of the line(s) on which you are requesting service
  • Set Type(s) - For new line installation - the type of set you will be purchasing
  • Billing Number - The department billing number assigned to your Bell telephone account

Due dates are mandated by Bell Canada to Telecommunications. If you are scheduling a large move/installation (over 10 lines) please contact Telecommunications to negotiate a due date several weeks in advance to avoid lengthy disruption of service.
