Mathew Iantorno Receives Connaught PhDs for Public Impact Fellowship
Mathew Iantorno, an ICCIT-affiliated doctoral candidate at the Faculty of Information, is one of 15 PhD students to have received the prestigious Connaught PhDs for Public Impact Fellowships for 2024-25. This annual fellowship is designed to offer doctoral students the opportunity to explore the world of public scholarship.
Mathew's project focuses on novel forms of retail automation, such as vending machines and self-checkout kiosks, and how these technologies reconfigure employment, consumer responsibility, and public space. For his Connaught project, he is authoring a policy brief on the current state of retail automation in Toronto, Ontario. This ongoing research is supervised by ICCIT faculty member Dr. Julie Chen.
