Julie Chen Wins the UTM Annual Research Prize
We are pleased to announced that ICCIT Professor Julie Yujie Chen has been awarded UTM's Annual Research Prize for 2024–2025.
Each year, UTM presents these awards to outstanding early career faculty members from the humanities, social sciences, and sciences. The award recipient receives $2000 to be applied towards their ongoing research activities and professional development.
Julie's research explores the transformation of work and worker's subjectivity in relation to digital technologies, capitalism, and globalization. She is the founding editor of Platforms & Society and is currently working on two SSHRC-funded projects: a book manuscript examining AI data work and digital working class in China; and a policy project exploring the limitations of the prevailing frameworks of AI safety.
We look forward to Julie's continued contributions to the ICCIT in the years to come.
