
The Professional Experience Certificate (PEC) in Digital Media, Communication and Technology is a competitive program that provides ICCIT students with an opportunity to connect with relevant industries, industry leaders, and evolving professional standards. Through the integration of work placements with ICCIT programs of study, accepted students are provided professional learning experiences within and outside of the classroom. The program offers an opportunity to apply skills and concepts learned throughout your undergraduate university studies and earn those who complete the requirements a transcript notation.
Application to PEC Program is exclusive to U of T students who:
- Enrolled in at least one of our ICCIT programs
- Completed CCT110H5 Rhetoric and Media or WRI173H5 Creative Non-Fiction
- Completed CCT273H5 Professional Practice and Communication with a minimum grade of 70%
- Maintained a CGPA of at least 2.4
Students will be eligible to apply for this certificate program at the end of their second year of study. Requests to enroll in this certificate program Subject POSt will only be assessed through the Spring term via Acorn. Those who meet the requirements, will be invited for an interview. After the interview, notification of acceptance/invitations will be made on Acorn and via email during the Summer.
After you have been accepted into the program, you must also complete:
- CCT373H5t Career Planning and Development
- CCT409H5 Special Topics in Work-Based Learning, CCT410H5 Internship I, or WRI410H5 Internship I
- One summer12–16-week full-time work placement
The recommended timing to complete the requirements is:
- 3rd year in the Fall semester: complete CCT373H5 Career Planning and Development
- Between 3rd and 4th year in the Summer: complete your 12-16 week full-time work placement
- 4th year Fall, Winter or Summer: complete CCT409H5 Special Topics in Work-Based Learning, CCT410H5 Internship I, or WRI410H5 Internship I
Please note that students currently enrolled in the program who are graduating in 2023 have the option to complete the certificate under the previous requirements:
- a minimum of two non-academic credit summer 4-month work placements:
- CCT373H5 Career Planning and Development
- CCT475H5 Integrated Learning Digital Media, Communication, and Technology
