Sue brings rich experience working with small to medium pharmaceutical/life science focused organizations where she has been able to draw on a background in both science and business. Over the past 15 years, Sue has worked with several organizations providing strategic marketing, communication and clinical study consultative services to pharmaceutical companies across North America. She was also instrumental in spinning out and overseeing the growth of an organization providing development and delivery of electronic data capture (EDC) tools for the life science sector. Sue holds a B.Sc. from McGill University, a Ph.D. (Physiology) from the University of Calgary and an M.B.A. (Marketing/ Financing of New Ventures) from Queen’s University. Sue is a co-founder of Virtus Insights Inc, a strategic management and commercialization services company and is a volunteer advisor with the RIC Centre in Mississauga, Ontario. Nick Kuryluk is a graduate from the University of Toronto. He is a Principal at Virtus Insights Inc., A Strategic Management Professional Services Firm. Nick worked in the Bio-Pharmaceutical Industry for 24 years -- 22 of them with Amgen Inc., a biotechnology company that discovers, develops, and manufactures human therapeutics. While at Amgen, Nick was Director of the Strategy and Program Management Office. In his role, he governed Amgen Canada's approach to 1) Strategic Planning, 2) Program Management, and 3) New Products Commercialization. Nick was selected as one of the University of Toronto’s Mississauga's Top 40 Alumni and he received an Arbor Award for his dedication to volunteerism. He is a member of the Governing Council at the University of Toronto where he serves on several boards and committees. Nick is an active volunteer advisor, specializing in commercialization processes and marketing frameworks.
Steve guides sales and marketing organizations in start-ups and has helped large technology companies like IBM, SAP, Microsoft, CGI, and Oracle.

Dr. Sima Salahshor is the founder of ScienceHA, Inc., a scientific and project management consulting and advisory firm with focus on life sciences related projects and programs. She has worked extensively with early-stage as well as larger corporate companies, and has a background in research product evaluation, early stage investment, commercialization, and industry partnership development.
Dr. Salahshor holds a Bachelor degree in Clinical Chemistry, a Master in Molecular Biology and a PhD in Medical Genetics from Karolinska Institute, Sweden, and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) with the Project Management Institute (PMI). Dr. Salahshor is also an adjunct professor at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Medicine, where she designs and coordinates new courses and teaches graduate level students. She has over 20 years experience in oncology research and has published numerous pre-reviewed articles in the areas of cancer research and biomarker discovery and development.
Kevin Smith is a Story Architect. As the Chief Story Architect for TheStoryArchitect.com Kevin helps start-ups, small businesses, and social enterprises unleash their story, by helping them understand what their core customer story is and then helping them get their story to market. His services include branding, messaging, marketing strategy, SEO, Content and Social Media marketing, presentation and pitch design, web design, lead generation and sales training. He’s spoken and workshopped at a number of startup pitches and startup weekend events. Kevin worked at Dell for 14 years in various sales and marketing roles where he had to give thousands of presentations and client pitches.
He began his business career at 3M Canada in 1961 and over his 23 years at the Company, Doug was privileged to be a part of 3M’s leadership development programs. His areas of focus were Customer Service, Sales & Marketing, Product Management & Business Development.
During Doug’s career as a consultant, he has focused on small & medium private companies providing counsel and support in wide variety of business areas: business development, product management, training and coaching, operations support, sales & marketing, goal setting and business planning, mentoring and developing plans to attract investment financing.
Femi is the founder / CEO of Centre for Entrepreneurial Leadership (CFEL) in Mississauga and President of Integrated Business Consult in Brampton, Ontario. He is a Project Management Professional (PMP) and a Lean Six Sigma Consultant.
Femi had Multiple degrees in Engineering and Business Administration. He had his first degree in Engineering Physics with specialization in Materials Science, two masters degrees , MSc Mechanical Engineering and Executive MBA with specialization in Finance and Marketing. He also obtained a Ph.D in Management with specialization in Sales and Marketing.
Femi lectures as a Professor of Manufacturing Management at Sheridan College, Brampton and a Professor of Industrial Engineering at Conestoga College, Cambridge, Ontario.
Michael was a previous regional business development manager for Fututpreneur-an organization that helps young entrepreneurs in financing their new ventures. Previously ot that, he was part of the team that launched and grew Dx3Canada to the largest digital marketing and retailing event in Canada. He also has experience managing global events in petroleum pipeline and heavy oil industries.
Brad is a serial tech entrepreneur and professional services executive who has worked throughout North America and Japan. His passion for entrepreneurship has found him serving on a number of boards, from Cupertino to Halifax, advising startups, helping to launch new ventures and commercializing scientific research.
Brad’s last corporate position was with Ricoh where he created innovative organizational models for IT service delivery, secured and grew Ricoh’s largest and most strategic global accounts, and worked on global services strategy. In his roles at Ricoh he had significant P&L responsibilities and participated in numerous mergers, acquisitions, and major reorganizations.
He now runs a consulting practice that focuses on growth and reorganization initiatives for service-based businesses.
Dylan is the owner and director of Cortex Design Inc. Dylan's firm helps deliver compelling user-experiences with the complex products they design.
At Cortex, they visualize human experiences, design the products to support them and manufacture the solution. We believe that a designer's most important job is to connect with people and create products that enrich their lives. Good design is not about designing objects, it's about designing stories. And good stories are good business.
The projects they take on tend to include gaming and wearable technology, 3-D scanning, imaging and printing, and medical devices. Cortex Design's current projects include The Bubl Cam, Matter and Form 3D Scanner and the Cloud DX Tricorder (currently in the running for the XPRIZE).
Naveen is a Senior Research Scientist working in the Advanced Materials Lab at the Xerox Research Centre of Canada (XRCC). He received his B.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Western Ontario in 1991, and his Ph.D. in Chemistry in 1997 at the University of British Columbia. Following a 1 year postdoctoral fellowship at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, he joined XRCC in 1999. Naveen holds over 125 US patents, and 12 peer-reviewed technical publications. His current focus is on custom material syntheses, structure-property relationships, and developing scalable synthetic processes for ink components. Naveen also enjoys exploring new research initiatives as well as sharing his work and education experiences with high school/university students in various outreach activities.
She is the CEO of CLUES, an enterprise that has developed an online tool designed to mine individual and group strengths. Julie brings over 20 years of experience in marketing and customer relationship management roles in the telecommunications, entertainment, business to business publishing and retail industries: Rogers Communications, Harlequin Books, Blockbuster and Canada’s Wonderland. Her particular expertise was in customer profiling and optimizing customer value through behavioural analysis, database marketing and the development of innovative customer loyalty programs for tier one companies.
Recovering broadcast journalist, Lyndon Johnson, has spent almost 20 years helping startups and small businesses build and maintain relationships with the people that matter most to their success. He is founder of THINK DIFFERENT [LY] - public relations firm designed to meet the needs of budget-conscious businesses, and COMMS.BAR - an Apple 'genius'-style bar for communications advice.
Lyndon has also invented a system to eliminate risky assumptions from communications activities in order to increase success rates.
Darren Lum is the current CampusStart Coordinator at the Ontario Centres of Excellence. Previously, he was an integral part of the formation and launch of the University of Toronto Mississauga Entrepreneurship Business Accelerator (I-CUBE) creating the program and curriculum. Darren has spent time working for the Regional Innovation Centre of Peel Region (RIC Centre) as the Communications and Marketing Officer. He has also worked for 2 technology startups in cloud payroll and 3D printing while completing his Master’s in Biotechnology from the University of Toronto Mississauga.
Doug took early retirement as an audit partner with KPMG after a 32 year career to pursue other business, community and personal interests. While at KPMG he worked with businesses in the chemical, plastics, pharmaceutical/life sciences sectors and industrial markets in general. Although retired from KPMG, Doug is extremely active and currently serving as a Trusted Business and Financial Advisor to small and mid-sized business owners and high net worth individuals and helps them better manage their business and personal affairs. Doug is also a Strategic Advisor to Brickbase Business Professional Support Services, a start-up business which specializes in business process transformation and combines state-of-the-art cloud-based technology and on-demand, top-tier personalized professional services.
Doug is a member of UTM Campus Council, is actively engaged mentoring many UTM business students and graduates and is a recent recipient of an Arbor Award from the university. He is also very active in many other community activities including being a key member of the Board Fundraising Committee of the Nature Conservancy of Canada – Ontario and supporting an organization that provides disabled youth the opportunity to learn to ski/snowboard.
Marc Belaiche is President of TorontoEntrepreneurs.ca and TorontoJobs.ca, an internet recruitment and staffing company specializing in helping companies find candidates in the Greater Toronto Area. Marc is the author of “Tales from the Recruiter – A Canadian Recruiter’s Perspective on How To Get that Perfect Job”. He has been in the recruitment industry since 1995; prior to TorontoJobs.ca, Marc was a Recruiting Manager in the staffing industry and also worked at Prudential Insurance and KPMG in accounting and auditing roles. Marc is a CPA and CA and is a member of the Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA) as well as on the Board of the Halton-Peel CPA District Association. Marc has made many radio and television appearances as well as conducted many presentations on recruitment across Canada. Marc has extensive experience in on-line advertising, e-commerce and recruitment.
