Residence Community Ambassador

Student Housing & Residence Life is happy to announce our new Residence Community Ambassador (RCA) volunteer position that is available to those who are interested in living in Upper Year Housing!

Details

RCAs will be upper year students living in residence, who will be required to assist with Residence Orientation events, such as Move-In Day & marquee events, while also helping to prepare for student arrival. There will also be additional volunteer leadership opportunities available for RCAs throughout the academic school year!

If a student is accepted for the RCA position, they will also receive:

  • Guaranteed space in upper year housing
  • Exclusive room selection opportunities
  • Early move in
  • Leadership opportunities throughout the academic year
  • CCR Credit

Eligibility

In order to be eligible for the Residence Community Ambassador position, students must:

  • Meet the Residence Community Ambassador application deadline
  • Cannot hold other campus commitments during the residence orientation time-period (such as Campus Orientation Leader)
  • Be available for all required dates & times, which include:
    • RCA Move In Day: TBD - Communication coming mid-June
    • Student Arrival Preparation: August 28 – 30, 2019: various hours between 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
    • Move-In Day: August 31, 2019: 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
    • Residence Orientation: September 1 – 2, 2019 & September 7 – 8, 2019: various hours between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m.
    • At minimum, select one residence event per semester throughout the academic school year from a list provided by the Move-In & Orientation Committee Chair (excluding mandatory attendance events such as Community Gatherings)
  • Must maintain all eligibility requirements to live in Upper Year Housing, which include:
    • Completed a minimum of 3.0 credits in the previous academic year at UTM;
    • Achieved a minimum 1.5 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) in the previous academic year;
    • Maintain full-time student status for the duration of their on-campus residency;
    • If international: Maintain international permit-holding student status for the duration of their on-campus residency;
    • Abide by the policies, procedures, payment deadlines and community standards as outlined in the UTM Student Housing & Residence Life Undergraduate Occupancy Agreement, and have no more than 4 discipline points from previous years on residence;
    • Abide all application deadlines and procedures.

 

Please Note: If the student is unable to meet all requirements (including dates), they will be considered ineligible for the position. Additionally, should the student fail to meet one of the requirements during the the course of their contract, the student will be subject to eviction

Applicants are required to complete the UTM Upper Year Housing application found here: http://starportal.utoronto.ca before March 8, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. (EST). Once your application has been submitted, you will receive an email with the supplementary application webform to apply for the Residence Community Assistant position. Complete the supplementary application before March 11, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. (EST).
