Madhavi Jha is a postdoctoral fellow at the Centre for South Asian Civilizations, Department of Historical Studies. Her main interest areas include gender, labour, histories of infrastructure and social stratification. She graduated in History from Delhi University and her Masters was in Development Studies at Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. She recently completed her PhD from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Drawing from her PhD dissertation she is working on a monograph on the history of women construction workers in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century India. Her postdoctoral project explores the history of labour formations associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in India. 

She will be teaching 'The History of Women Since 1800' in Summer 2022.
