The Department of Historical Studies is pleased to share recent tenure and promotion news. We extend our warmest congratulations to Carrie Atkins, who has been granted tenure by the President’s Office. This significant milestone reflects her outstanding contributions to research, teaching, and service. Dr. Atkins will be promoted to Associate Professor, effective July 1, 2025.

We are also proud to announce the promotion of three colleagues whose dedication to scholarship and teaching continues to enrich our department and inspire our students. Effective July 1, 2025:

Dr. Mairi Cowan has been promoted to Professor, Teaching Stream

Dr. Ken Derry has been promoted to Professor, Teaching Stream

Dr. Bart Scott has been promoted to Professor
