Helen Leung, Personal Counsellor & Mental Health Worker

Helen Leung (She/Her)

Personal Counsellor & Mental Health Worker Health & Counselling Centre

I am a registered social worker with over ten years of experience working with students on a number of issues that impact on their mental health, such as anxiety, depression, academic stress and relationship concerns (aka life!). I have training in different kinds of therapy (cognitive behavioural therapy, narrative therapy, dialectical behavior therapy) but at the end of the day, I see counselling as a space where people feel understood and accepted for who they are. My goal as a counsellor is to practice from an anti-oppressive framework and support people in whatever way they feel is most helpful to them. Sometimes, this means identifying practical strategies to deal with a particular issue and other times, it means providing a space where people can just talk and feel heard.
