Let's Talk UTM Day

Coinciding with Bell Let's Talk Day, Let’s Talk UTM Day is the first campus event of its kind, bringing together students, staff, and faculty in an effort to promote open conversations around mental health. By sharing the stories and lived experiences of members of our community, we hope to reduce the stigma associated with mental illness and mental health, and help make UTM a more open and inclusive campus environment.

Students, staff and faculty at UTM can get involved with Let's Talk UTM in several ways:

1. Stories of Resiliency Photo Series. A visual showcase of individuals' experiences with overcoming mental health challenges. *NOW ACCEPTING SUBMISSIONS*

We’re asking students, staff, faculty, and alumni how they were able to bounce back from adverse situations and how to build resiliency and grit. Stories will be featured across campus and via social media platforms.

To participate, email your responses to the following 3 questions to wellness.utm@utoronto.ca:

  •     What does mental health mean to you?
  •     What is a mental health related challenge you have overcome or are currently facing?
  •     What coping strategies and resources have you found personally helpful and would like to share with other students?

Following your submission, we will contact you to set up a brief appointment to finalize your profile and get your photo taken.

2. #LetsTalkUTM Day. A campus wide event coinciding with Bell Let’s Talk Day, a national mental health awareness campaign.

Join the conversation with students, staff and faculty on January 31, 2018 and learn more about mental health resources and supports on campus and in the community.
