Research and Professional Interests

My research and professional interests center on integrating polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (PolSAR/PolInSAR) and thermal radiation modeling to quantify lake-ice thickness, energy balance, and seasonal phenology in northern cold-region environments, with the broader goal of improving our understanding of cryospheric responses to climate variability.

Undergraduate Honours Thesis title: Four Evaluation Tools For The Quality Of Science Used In Environmental Impact Assessments.
Research Assistant: Aug. 2021 — Sep.2022
Supervisor:  Jochen Jaeger

Master research thesis title:  Analysis of roadside buffers for pollinator plants, specifically examining how roadside green spaces can serve as crucial habitats for species like milkweed.
Master Research Supervisor: Nicholas Mandrak

Why Geography, Geomatics and Environment at UTM?

I am drawn to this department for its strong interdisciplinary approach to environmental remote sensing and climate research, where expertise in radar imaging, cryospheric science, and geospatial analysis converge to address pressing questions about the impacts of climate change on northern landscapes. The collaborative and supportive research environment at UTM, combined with its balance of cutting-edge facilities and close connection to natural field sites, fosters an ideal setting for developing innovative, integrative environmental research.
