Research and Professional Interests
My undergraduate research primarily looked at the bikeshare system in Hamilton, which was still relatively new at the time. My interests were centered on spatial questions of supply, demand, and destination choice, based on the reason that the Hamilton system utilizes a hybrid structure of docking stations as well as free-floating bikes.
My current graduate research focuses on post-secondary student travel in the GTHA, specifically for students with disabilities. I am interested in how travel is influenced by the different urban morphologies surrounding campuses as well as the individual transportation networks and mode choice of students. I’m very interested in applying GIS and spatial analyses to problems of sustainable and active transportation. I hope to bring my experience and research into a professional environment where I can work to develop and improve sustainable transportation not only in the GTA but throughout Canada.
Why Geography at UTM?
I chose UTM for the excellent graduate geography community and because my supervisor is primarily located at UTM.
