Program: 4th year Forensic Biology

Hometown: Quevedo, Ecuador

Why UTM? I chose UTM because is one of the best universities that has Forensic Science as a program of study. Also, due to its campus, it is very peaceful and full of nature, making a nice scenery to study.

What are you involved in on campus?

  • Forensic Outreach program, as a MAP Mentor for the Forensic Program
  • Centre of Student Engagement as a UTM Community Leadership Development Program
  • ACE@UTM program and with the Student and Recruitment Admissions Office.

I am a pro on this UTM topic: POSt and course enrollment.

A course you succeeded at/most interesting course you have taken at UTM?

  • FSC315 - Forensic Biology: Explain biological concepts to support legal proceedings that can be applied in the identification of individuals in both criminal and civil cases.
  • FSC303 - Techniques of Crime Scene Investigation: Introduce techniques used in the analysis of a crime scene, including forensic photography, fingerprinting, documentation of the scene, etc.

What is your favourite event you’ve attended at UTM? Any forensic event I have attended has been my favourite since in them I can network and have fun at the same time. Furthermore, I was able to meet new people and make friends that have the same interests as me.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to prospective students about studying at UTM? Take your time deciding what you want to do. Do not compare your academic journey with your friends or to someone else. Everyone has their own path and it might be different from what you imagine, however, make sure that you choose something you enjoy and like doing,

What are your future aspirations after you graduate? I am hoping to start working in a lab setting, which allow me to gain experience in the field in order to continue with my studies in the future.
