Departmental Statements

Committees

Historical Studies formed a faculty committee in September 2020 which continues to encourage and support departmental complement planning that prioritizes intersectional, equity-informed hiring, including actively seeking opportunities to hire Black, Indigenous, and racialized faculty through targeted hires.

Additional EDI Initiatives

  • Historical Studies held an internal TIDE workshop for Faculty and Staff in December 2021.
  • The Anti-Racism and Equity Committee is working to establish a monthly informal forum that will involve discussions around Anti-Racism and Equity.
    • This includes reading groups and facilitated conversations led by speakers, from within the Historical Studies faculty and beyond, on topics ranging from policing on campus to decolonial pedagogy.
    • This monthly forum is still in the planning stages.
