Evonne Levy and Tristan Weddigen have organized a symposium to be held at the Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts (CASVA) at the National Gallery in Washington, DC. The event will be held on May 8th and 9th, 2015. The fruits of this project also include a new translation of Wölfflin’s foundational text, published as part of the Getty Research Institute’s Texts and Documents series, forthcoming in May.

"Film has taken a powerful position alongside the global environmental movement, from didactic documentaries to the fantasy pleasures of commercial franchises. This book investigates in particular film's complex role in representing ecological traumas. Eco-trauma cinema represents the harm we, as humans, inflict upon our natural surroundings, or the injuries we sustain from nature in its unforgiving iterations."
