Marc Laflamme receives the Pikaia Award in Paleontology from G.A.C

Marc Laflamme has been awarded the Pikaia Award in Paleontology by the Paleontology Division of the Geological Association of Canada.

The Pikaia Award is named after Pikaia, an early cephalochordate known from the Burgess Shale. The Pikaia Award is awarded biennially in even-numbered years by the Paleontology Division. It is awarded in recognition of a recent contribution to research on any aspect of Canadian paleontology, or by a Canadian to paleontology that is judged to constitute an outstanding accomplishment in the field.

Since Marc will be in the field when the award is typically given out, there will be a small ceremony as part of the dinner banquet for the upcoming Canadian Society of Vertebrate Paleontology to be held at UTM on Friday, May 20th (meeting from 18th-21st).
