Job Description

The Beharry Lab at the University of Toronto Mississauga is recruiting a full-time postdoctoral fellow with expertise in the field of synthetic medicinal chemistry. They will be involved in research projects focused on the design and synthesis of small molecule modulators of enzyme activity for cancer therapeutics. The candidate will also be involved in the development of novel fluorescent chemosensors to predict anticancer drug resistance.

Desired Skills and Experience

The candidate is required to have recently completed a PhD degree in synthetic organic medicinal chemistry (or a related discipline). We are seeking a highly self-motivated individual with insightful and innovative research capabilities. They must be able to work both independently and in a team. Ideal candidates should have theoretical background and laboratory experience in organic synthesis, purification and characterization techniques (e.g. HPLC, NMR, LC-MS, etc.), and SAR studies. They should have solid understanding of medicinal chemistry with experience in PK/TK/PD studies to support the development of compounds for in vivo applications. Additionally, candidates must have strong writing and oral communication skills and be able to help maintain a safe working and learning environment.

About the Employer

The Beharry Lab is focused on developing chemical probes for new diagnostic tools and treatment platforms to solve problems in cancer biology. We have multiple collaborators in academia, industry, and within the hospital network. Our group works in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary research environment.
