The Job

Working under the general direction of Elizabeth Parke, the Senior Research Associate (SRA) for Collaborative Digital Research (CDRS), the graphic and web design assistant will assist with developing digital posters, images, and other graphic elements to promote research activities (events, workshops, keynotes, and seminars) at UTM's Core Research Facilities. The assistant will undertake a variety of design tasks related to research mobilization and dissemination working to raise the profile of the research taking place in the Growth Facilities, Microscope Imaging Suite, CDRS, and the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Suite. Digital and webdesign will be a focus of the assistant's work. Graphic design (UX) and communications experience is an asset. Work can be done remotely or with hybrid proivisions. Pay is $18/hr.

Qualifications
    •    Proficiency with Design Tools (Canva, Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign). Software will be made available to    the candidate
    •    Experience creating, maintaining, and updating websites (Drupal, Wordpress)
    •    Excellent written and verbal communications skills
    •    Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment
Skills
    •    Critical thinking, reading, and writing skills
    •    Ability to prioritize project work/deadlines strategically
    •    Interest in research project management and communication to research stakeholders
Responsibilities

    •    reviewing current graphic/web designs for Core Facilities
    •    pitching, scoping, and designing potential additional features (e.g. instructional videos for equipment)
    •    assisting with administrative duties as required
    •    growing the visibility of Core Facilities and research taking place at UTM
