As part of my research fellowship with the University of Leipzig, I had the opportunity to spend two weeks in Leipzig, Germany with Joy, to meet and collaborate with the RAISE team at the Humboldt Science Center for Child Development (HumanKind). During my stay, I engaged in meaningful discussions with the RAISE team, exchanged ideas on their ongoing projects, and shared my own experiences and insights as the project coordinator of R-BLISS. One of the first things I noticed was how deeply kindness is embedded in the culture at both the CCDMP and HumanKind. The staff and members were so warm and welcoming to us, which made my visit beyond comfortable and enjoyable.

Beyond the academic work, I also explored the city’s rich cultural history through visits to the Leipzig Museum of Fine Arts, the Monument to the Battle of the Nations, the Mendelssohn-Haus, and more. I even enjoyed the city’s diverse cuisine, eating döner kebab, schnitzel, pizza, Leipzig lark, and plenty of German chocolate.

Overall, the experience was both professionally rewarding and personally inspiring. I am very grateful for the opportunity to visit Leipzig—and I would love to go back in the future!
