Jennifer and Emilie share CCDMP research at the 2025 SRCD conference in Minneapolis

Emilie and Jennifer Pre-Conference

The CCDMP was recently represented at the bi-annual meeting for the Society for Research in Child Development (SRCD) in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Jennifer chaired a symposium on how early life adversity and psychobiology work to predict emotion regulation outcomes in infancy through emerging adulthood. The symposium included a talk by Jennifer, which used the LEAP data to assess how socioeconomic status and respiratory sinus arrhythmia predict aggression in middle childhood. Emilie presented findings from our R-BLISS pilot study, which investigated the efficacy of a social-emotional training program designed for local educators of Black children. The program aimed to bolster educators’ social-emotional knowledge-base and support their cultural competencies in their care with Black children.

They also attended several engaging talks across diverse developmental topics, including child policy and innovations in parenting research. The conference provided valuable networking opportunities and thoughtful feedback from scholars across a wide range of disciplines.

Before the conference, Jennifer and Emilie also had a chance to visit the Mall of America for some fun, food, and downtime!

Jennifer and Emilie left SRCD feeling energized by the work being done to center equity and context in developmental research and are excited to continue contributing to these areas!
