Juris Strautmanis

Juris Strautmanis has been a sessional lecturer of Chemistry at UTM and St. George since 1992. He loves the challenge and enjoyment of discussing chemistry and biochemistry with students.

“I have always enjoyed Chemistry since the time of 1st year Chemistry,” says Juris, who earned his M.Sc in 1986 and his PhD in 1989. “You need to have a continuing interest in the subjects being taught.”

Juris, who is a member of the Chemical Institute of Canada, has done postdoctoral research with Texas A & M University’s Department of Chemistry and held lecturer positions with York University and Acadia University.

“I have made myself available in places where work was needed to be done,” he says. “It's important to do what you enjoy.
