what is this program?

Recent graduates are in need of some assistance when it comes to preparing for the workplace and accessing work opportunities that will help them take the first steps in their careers. As such, the Career Centre is piloting a new program called the Recent Graduate Opportunities Program (RGOP). This RGOP is designed to offer recent graduates one-on-one career coaching, which will help them develop the necessary skills to successfully transition from the academic classroom to the workplace. Candidates will also undertake a short-term (minimum 4 months) paid placement at an organization in the GTA.

For employers, we are offering you early access to a talent pool of candidates who are ready to take on their first job. For this program, we are working in particular with candidates who may be from marginalized or underrepresented groups. Recent graduates would include those from the Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, those who have barriers due to disabilities, those from low-income households, and those who are members of racialized and other marginalized communities.

If you need candidates to fill a need in your office (ex. starting or completing a project, replacing a current employee on leave etc.), we can help! The Career Centre will recruit, interview, and vet candidates for you. Once our process is complete, we will provide you with the most suitable candidates for your vacancies.

Are these candidates work-ready?

Upon enrolling in this program, candidates will complete 5 online preparatory modules that have been developed by the Career Centre as well as attend several one-on-one career coaching sessions with Career Centre staff so that they can be placement-ready.

Is this an official co-op or internship program?

The Recent Graduate Opportunities Program is not an official co-op or internship program as the candidates enrolled in it have already graduated.

What kind of opportunities can we hire for?

We are looking to place candidates in short or long-term contract positions, based on your hiring needs. Placements need to be paid and a minimum of 4 months in length.
