Socio-Eco-Evolutionary Dynamics in Cities
Please join me in congratulating Ruth Rivkin, PhD Student, Johnson Lab on the article “Socio-Eco-Evolutionary Dynamics in Cities” in Evolutionary Applications.
Cities are functioning ecosystems because of, not in spite of, people. The ecology of cities shapes evolution of populations, which in turn reshapes ecology. Human society is embedded within this cycle, however it has been ignored by most urban eco-evolutionary studies. In this Capstone piece to a special feature on urban environments, we developed a new framework for integrating human societal factors into eco-evolutionary research in cities.
