Arctic ecology. For more than 30 years, my students and I have been involved in studies of composition, distribution and progression of plant communities on polar landscapes, especially on those recently de-glaciated. Since 1992 we have participated in the International Tundra Experiment (ITEX). The objective of this research program is timing and abundance of flowering of selected arctic species at many circumpolar sites in relation to climate warming. Five such sites are being monitored in Canada.
