WISE UTM Biology Undergrads

 

Last weekend, University of Toronto hosted the 8th WISE (Women in Science and Engineering) Annual National Conference.

"The WISE National Conference serves as a catalyst to inspire and empower individuals to pursue their passions, broaden their horizons, and form meaningful connections. The UTM Biology undergrad students that attended the WISE Conference this weekend  got the chance to meet many successful and bright women in the fields of science and engineering.

Tulip Marawi, 3rd year undergrad, double major in Biology and Psychology, presented in the 3 minute thesis competition on "Behavioural Effects of Maternal Consumption of Alcohol on larval Zebrafish".

Noor Al Kaabi, Tulip Marawi, Hiba Habbal were honoured to speak with Dr. Liu, who is the Chief of the Radiation Medicine Program and Head of the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, as well as the Professor and Chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Toronto.

Hiba Habbal and Noor Al Kaabi won a raffle draw to Dr. Baylis' new book: Altered Inheritance.

The Department of Biology, University of Toronto Mississauga, encourages the undergraduate students to participate to conferences by offering subsidies that covers the registration fees and transportation.
