Title
Post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression during neural development
Abstract
Post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression plays a prominent role in early animal embryos as well as in nervous system development and function. I will describe our recent studies of post-transcriptional regulation in (1) the neural stem cell lineage of the Drosophila third-instar brain and (2) human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) differentiated into cortical neurons. By developing and applying methods that provide high spatial and temporal resolution at the single-cell level (Drosophila) and implementing a deep proteogenomic time-course of neuronal differentiation (human iPSCs), our analyses highlight the importance of post-transcriptional regulation in development and disease.
