BikeShare is hiring!

BikeShare is currently hiring for two positions - one BikeShare Coordinator and one BikeShare Assistant.  Please note that due to the Covid-19 situation, position starting dates are not known at this time.  Both positions work until the end of October 2020.


BikeShare Coordinator

This position oversees all aspects of the UTM BikeShare program.

  • Maintain fleet of bikes in good and safe working order
  • Carry out educational repairs for members of the UTM community
  • Maintain BikeShare records, including logs of rentals and repairs
  • Recruitment, training & scheduling of volunteers
  • Ensure office is equipped with the necessary tools & supplies
  • Continue to advertise the BikeShare service to UTM students, faculty & staff
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with UTM BikeShare program (e.g. volunteering experience) a strong asset
  • Ability to maintain bicycles & carry out repairs
  • Experience with volunteer coordination an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Superior organizational skills
  • Familiarity with UTM’s environmental programming an asset
  • Must be able to work independently without direct supervision

This position works 15 hours per week, starting from the BikeShare opening date (TBD) until the end of October 2020.  Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.

BikeShare Assistant

This position assists with day-to-day operations of the UTM BikeShare program.

  • Maintain fleet of bikes in good and safe working order
  • Plan bicycle-related events throughout the year (usually 1-2 events in fall and 1-2 in spring)
  • Assist with promoting BikeShare to the UTM community (may include tabling at events)
  • Assist in recruiting, training and scheduling volunteers
  • Hold office hours on a regular basis
  • Assist in maintaining BikeShare records, including logs of rentals and repairs
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with UTM BikeShare program (e.g. volunteering experience) a strong asset
  • Must be able to work independently without direct supervision
  • Superior organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with other UTM environmental programming an asset
  • Experience planning events an asset

This position works 15 hours per week starting from the BikeShare opening date (TBD) until the end of October 2020.  Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.

BikeShare is always looking for volunteers! 

Experience is not required to volunteer with UTM BikeShare!  Never held a wrench before?  No problem, we’ll train you and give you the knowledge you need to work on bikes!

What do volunteers do?

Here are some of the ways that volunteers help out at UTM BikeShare:

  • Signing bikes in and out
  • Performing safety checks on our bikes before and after they are rented out
  • Fixing our bikes, e.g. patching flat tires
  • Doing routine maintenance on the bikes, e.g. lubricating chains and inflating tires
  • Running the office for short periods of time so our staff can grab lunch
