UTM vs. Niagara College - Men's Soccer Game Recap - Oct 20th, 2015

Men's Soccer - UTM v Niagara College (Oct 20th)

WELLAND, ON. (October 20, 2015) – The University of Toronto Mississauga Varsity Eagles men’s soccer squad came away with a well-deserved point on the road after a 1-1 draw against the host, Niagara College.

The two teams traded chances early until Niagara’s Kimbel Donayre potted the first goal of the match in the 31st minute. UTM was quick to respond with Andrew Kim heading in a free kick from Soniel Levanaj at the 34th minute of the first half.

This was a big game with a lot on the line for both teams. A win by UTM would secure them 3rd place in the tough Central Division. A tie would secure Niagara a birth in the play-offs but would leave UTM needing help from other colleges to secure them the 4th seed and a play-off qualifier game.

With this in mind, you would expect that both teams would play tentatively in the second, but the two teams battled hard with the both teams having many chances to score. However, in the end both teams could not score and the game finished in a 1-1 draw.

UTM now sits and waits to see if the will qualify for their first play-off qualifier game in their inaugural season.
