Drop-in Sport Protocols & Etiquette

All Drop-in sport specific protocols will be outlined below. Please review carefully before coming to the Recreation, Athletics & Wellness Centre:

INDOOR DROP-IN SPORTS

BADMINTON

  • All participants must check-in with a Welcome Desk staff using their T-cards at the RAWC Welcome Desk
  • Locations to play can be in either Gym A, Gym B and/or Gym C
  • Playing on the sidelines and between courts is limited
  • Socks, barefoot and back-less shoes will not be permitted when playing in the gym
  • Equipment such as racquets & birdies are available to borrow, please ask Welcome Desk staff to borrow equipment
    • Equipment is limited so you are encouraged to bring your own
  • Bags that are unable to fit in lockers (i.e. racquet bags) will be allowed in the facility. The must be placed in the designated area
    • Please Note: the department is not liable for missing equipment
  • Courts will operate on a ‘First come, First Serve’ basis. However, all participants must share the court space with other participants
    • It is encouraged to rotate off the court after 10 or 15 minutes of game play has elapsed
  • Face masks are welcomed while in the RAWC facilities

BASKETBALL

  • All participants must check-in with a Welcome Desk staff using their T-cards at the RAWC Welcome Desk
  • Locations to play can be in either Gym A, Gym B and/or Gym C
  • Playing on the sidelines and between courts is limited
  • Socks, barefoot and back-less shoes will not be permitted when playing in the gym
  • Basketballs are available to borrow, please ask Welcome Desk staff to borrow equipment
    • Equipment is limited so you are encouraged to bring your own
  • Games are permitted and half court games are highly encouraged
    • It is encouraged to rotate teams after 10 or 15 minutes of game play has elapsed
  • Participants must be respectful to those wishing to practice shooting and/or skills drill and leave adequate space for all participants
  • Face masks are welcomed while in the RAWC facilities

INDOOR CRICKET

  • All participants must check-in with a Welcome Desk staff using their T-cards at the RAWC Welcome Desk
  • Locations to play will be in Gym C
  • Socks, barefoot and back-less shoes will not be permitted when playing in the gym
  • Indoor Cricket Bats and balls are available to borrow, please ask DRAW staff at the Welcome Desk to borrow equipment
    • Should you wish to bring your own equipment, please confirm with the Welcome Desk staff if the equipment is allowed to be used (i.e. use of indoor batts only or taped tennis balls)
  • Games are permitted and are encouraged to rotate teams after 10 or 15 minutes of game play has elapsed
  • Participants must be respectful to those wishing to practice and/or skills drill and leave adequate space for all participants to practice accordingly
  • Cricket batting mat and wickets must stay located in place they are set-up by RAWC staff 
  • Face masks are welcomed while in the RAWC facilities

    INDOOR SOCCER

    • All participants must check-in with a Welcome Desk staff using their T-cards at the RAWC Welcome Desk
    • Locations to play can be in either Gym A/B and/or Gym C
    • Socks, barefoot and back-less shoes will not be permitted when playing in the gym
    • Indoor Soccer balls are available to borrow, please ask Welcome Desk staff to borrow equipment
      • Should you wish to bring your own soccer ball and/or equipment, please confirm with the Welcome Desk staff if the equipment is allowed to be used (i.e. use of futsal ball is not permitted)
      • Equipment is limited to 2 balls per court
    • Games are permitted and are encouraged to rotate teams after 10 or15 minutes of game play has elapsed
    • Participants must be respectful to those wishing to practice and/or play
    • Indoor Soccer nets must stay located in place they are set-up by RAWC staff 
    • Face masks are welcomed while in the RAWC facilities

    VOLLEYBALL

    • All participants must check-in at the Welcome Desk in the RAWC with their T-card and UCheck
    • Socks, barefoot and back-less shoes will not be permitted when playing in the gym
    • Those only registered for the specific time will be granted access to the RAWC facilities
    • No playing will be allowed on the sidelines
    • Locations can be in either Gym A, Gym B and/or Gym C
    • Equipment such as volleyballs are available to borrow, please ask DRAW staff at the Welcome Desk to borrow equipment
      • Equipment is limited to 2 balls per session, per court
    • Face masks are welcomed while in the RAWC facilities

    COURT RESERVATION SPORTS

    Please Note: you can reserve your spot to use the court using the court booking system or walk up to the Welcome desk to book the court.

    Participants will have to abide by the standby procedures outlined in the Court Booking website

    SQUASH

    • All participants must check-in with a Welcome Desk staff using their T-cards at the RAWC Welcome Desk
    • Socks, barefoot and back-less shoes will not be permitted when playing in the courts
    • Court can be reserved minimum 48 hours in advance but need to arrive on time to use the courts OR can be booked upon arrival at the Welcome Desk
      • Review the Court Booking & Stand by Procedures for additional details
    • Locations can be in either Court 1, Court 2 Court 3
    • Equipment such as squash racquets and balls will be available to borrow, please ask Welcome Desk staff to borrow equipment
      • Equipment is limited so you are encouraged to bring your own
    • Participants must be respectful to those wishing to practice and/or play
    • Face masks are welcomed while in the RAWC facilities

    TABLE TENNIS

    • All participants must check-in with a Welcome Desk staff using their T-cards at the RAWC Welcome Desk
    • Socks, barefoot and back-less shoes will not be permitted when playing
    • Court can be reserved minimum 48 hours in advance but need to arrive on time to use the courts OR can be booked upon arrival at the Welcome Desk
      • Review the Court Booking & Stand by Procedures for additional details
    • Participants must be respectful to those wishing to practice and/or play
    • Locations can be in Multi-Purpose A and/or Multi-Purpose B
    • Equipment such as paddles and ping pong balls are available to borrow, please ask Welcome Desk staff to borrow equipment
      • Equipment is limited so you are encouraged to bring your own
    • Face masks are welcomed while in the RAWC facilities

    TENNIS

    • All participants must check-in with a Welcome Desk staff using their T-cards at the RAWC Welcome Desk
    • Socks, barefoot and back-less shoes will not be permitted when playing on the courts
    • Court can be reserved minimum 48 hours in advance but need to arrive on time to use the courts OR can be booked upon arrival at the Welcome Desk

    • Location is on the UTM Tennis Courts
      • UTM Tennis courts are located near the Maanjiwe Nendamowinan Building & Instructional Centre
    • Tennis racquets & Tennis balls will be available to borrow. Please ask the Welcome Desk staff to borrow equipment
      • Equipment is limited so you are encouraged to bring your own
    • Face masks are welcomed while in the RAWC facilities

    OUTDOOR SPORTS

    *Please Note: All outdoor fields will be open from beginning of June to end of October of each year

    BEACH VOLLEYBALL

    • All participants must check-in with a Welcome Desk staff using their T-cards at the RAWC Welcome Desk
    • Locations to play is at the UTM Beach Volleyball Courts
      • Beach Volleyball courts are located near Maanjiwe Nendamowinan Building & Instructional Centre
    • Socks, barefoot and back-less shoes will not be permitted when playing
    • Beach Volleyball are available to borrow. Please ask the Welcome Desk staff to borrow equipment
      • Equipment is limited to 2 balls per court.
    • Games are permitted and are encouraged to rotate teams after 10 or 15minutes of game play has elapsed
    • Participants must be respectful to those wishing to practice and/or play
    • Face masks are welcomed while in the RAWC facilities

    BEAN BAG TOSS

    • All participants must check-in with a Welcome Desk staff using their T-cards at the RAWC Welcome Desk
    • Location is on the UTM Tennis Courts, North Field or South Field
      • UTM Tennis courts & North Field are located near the Maanjiwe Nendamowinan Building & Instructional Centre
      • UTM South Field is located near Parking Lot #8
    • Socks, barefoot and back-less shoes will not be permitted when playing
    • Bean bags will be available to borrow. Please ask Welcome Desk staff to borrow equipment
    • Games are permitted and are encouraged to rotate teams after 10 or 15minutes of game play has elapsed
    • Participants must be respectful to those wishing to practice and/or play
    • Face masks are welcomed while in the RAWC facilities

    FIELD SPORTS (SOCCER, FOOTBALL, MINI FOOT/DISC GOLF & ULTIMATE FRISBEE)

    • All participants must check-in with a Welcome Desk staff using their T-cards at the RAWC Welcome Desk
    • Location is on the UTM Tennis Courts, North Field or South Field
      • UTM North Field is located near the Maanjiwe Nendamowinan Building  & Instructional Centre
      • UTM South Field is located near Parking Lot #8
    • Socks, barefoot and back-less shoes will not be permitted when playing on the fields
    • Equipment such as Footballs, Ultimate Frisbees & Outdoor Soccer balls are available to borrow. Please ask Welcome Desk staff to borrow equipment
    • Games are permitted and are encouraged to rotate teams after 10 or 15minutes of game play has elapsed
    • Participants must be respectful to those wishing to practice and/or play
    • Face masks are welcomed while in the RAWC facilities
