    Theory & Practical Exams

Both the PTS and FIS courses require two exams in order to become certified: theory and practical exams.

    Theory Exams

Theory Exams will be held at the University of Toronto Mississauga, Department of Recreation, Athletics & Wellness in multipurpose room b usually on the last Monday of every month. Both PTS and FIS theory exams will be held on these nights. It is recommended that you write the exam three to four weeks following completion of the course. Although we encourage you to take the actual course, you can challenge the exam without taking the course if you feel you have sufficient experience/education.

    Practical Exams

These are booked following the successful completion of the theory exams. For the PTS, practical exams will be handed out at the theory exam and scheduled one-on-one with your Pro Trainer. For the FIS, practical dates will be announced at the theory exam.

NOTE: UTM cannot accept registration for exams. Spaces are limited to 30 registrants per exam, so please register early. Registration for exams must be done through canfitpro directly at or by calling 1-800-667-5622 ext 224.

      Additional Requirements - CPR

Basic Adult CPR certification is required to become canfitpro certified. Standard First Aid is recommended although not required to complete your certification. CPR is valid up to one year from the date it was originally issued. CPR recertification must be completed annually to renew your certification. Although CPR certification is required to complete your canfitpro certification process, it is not required prior to taking the course or exams.
