Camp Health and Safety
Q: Is COVID-19 vaccination required to attend Camp U of T Mississauga?
A: As with all in-person gatherings at the University, Camp U of T Mississauga will comply with the COVID-19 safety measures U of T has in place at that time, including those relating to vaccines. At present, children under 12 taking part in activities on campus are not subject to the vaccine requirement. Any changes to vaccine requirements will be updated here.
Q: My child has a nut allergy. Is your camp nut free?
A: Our summer day camp operates in shared spaces with University students, faculty & staff, and is not nut free. We are very nut aware and all campers & staff are regularly reminded to ensure they do not bring snacks that contain nuts and other common allergens to camp. In addition, our camp meals are professionally prepared by our on-campus food services staff with a high attention to detail - especially on meals prepared for campers with identified allergies. We ask that you identify all dietary restrictions for your children during camp registration and promptly fill out additional forms (as requested by our camp office staff), to ensure your camper has the best possible experience at camp.
Q: Our summer plans have changed, can we cancel our summer camp registration?
A: Cancellations made at least 5 business days prior to your child’s camp session will be fully refunded. Late cancellations will be refunded minus a 10% administrative fee per child, per camp session. All refund requests must be made in writing to email@example.com.
Q: Can a camper that does not meet the age listed for the camp program register and attend?
A: Detailed age restriction guidelines are listed below.
Programs for campers 4-7 years of age. Child must be the required age by the first day of the camp session.
Programs for campers 8 years of age and older. Child must be the required age by the end of the calendar year (December 31st). No exceptions will be made for minimum age requirements.
If your child is not the listed age for the camp program, we look forward to having them attend once they have reached the appropriate age.
Maximum Age Exceptions – In certain cases, based on an individual child’s needs, it is may be appropriate to request an exception to allow a camper that is slightly older than the maximum age listed for the program to register and participate. These requests, including a detailed rationale can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please note that not all requests can be accommodated and during peak registration periods it is often difficult to respond in a timely manner to email. At Camp U of T Mississauga, we reserve the right to enforce program age restrictions when necessary to ensure camper & staff safety, program goals are achieved, and camper enjoyment is maximized. Camp Hours and Before & After Care
Q: What time is drop-off and pick-up?
A: Regular camp hours run from 9:00am, until 4:30pm. Details on drop-off and pick-up procedures will be communicated via email shortly before camp starts. Additional hours of supervision are available in the Camp Extended Care program. This program runs from 8:00am to 9:00am, and 4:30-6:00pm. Please register for the extended care program for each camper that requires additional supervision during the weeks they are attending camp.
Q: Does Camp U of T Mississauga provide lunch?
A: Yes! We will be providing an individually packaged lunch to every camper daily. A weekly menu will be sent via email prior to each camp session. Allergies and dietary restrictions must be indicated for each camper at the time of registration. We will work with parents as partners to ensure a safe camp meal can be provided to every camper.
Q: My child requires a special lunch due to a dietary restriction. Can you provide one or should I send something for them?
A: We will accommodate all dietary restrictions identified during registration (vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, specific allergen free, etc.) within reason. All meal accommodations related to an accessibility need or medical condition will be accommodated. Additionally, we will do our best to provide a meal that closely resembles the meals of the rest of the campers as possible, to ensure your camper feels included during lunch time.
Q: My child is particular about what they will and will not eat. I've looked at the weekly menu you provided in advance of camp, and I would like to request alternate meals for my child.
A: Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate these types of requests. Campers who do not have an identified dietary restriction during registration cannot be accommodated. Please ensure you contact the camp office at firstname.lastname@example.org with follow up questions related to meals and accommodations.
