Karen Kwan Anderson
Sole Practitioner, Karen Kwan Anderson, Barrister & Solicitor (Immigration Lawyer)

About Me

Mentoring is my way of giving back to UTM and to pass my knowledge, life experience and tips to those interested in starting their law journey.

I’m looking for a mentee who is motivated, enthusiastic, and not afraid to ask a lot of questions. I can share my experiences from UTM to Windsor Law days to articling, starting as a new lawyer and beyond to present time.

I hope my mentee will gain insight into how they can prepare for writing the Law School Admissions Test and applying to law schools; the process of becoming a lawyer; the value of a law degree; and the differences between being a sole practitioner and working for a firm.

I’m also help advise and coach with the Law Society of Ontario’s Coach and Advisor Network, so I speak with new lawyers on immigration practice and procedure, professional responsibility, and other issues that are unique to solo practice. I taught "Family Class Applications" in January 2022 in Queen's University's Graduate Program in Immigration and Citizenship Law, and will teach Ethics and Professional Responsibility in fall 2022.
