Travel Info

Closing Festivities: May 13
Here's the plan for tonight:

  • Dinner: We'll meet in the Holiday Inn lobby at 7:00, and head from there, most likely to Nazareth (969 Bloor Street W.), a delicious and cheap little hole-in-the-wall Ethiopian restaurant. In the event that we are too many to fit in the hole, our backup plan is The Victory Cafe (581 Markham Street).
  • Drinks: At 9:00 we'll move to the Three Speed (1163 Bloor St W), a cozy hipster bar specializing in dim lighting, cold beer, and a very respectable Manhattan.
  • Dancing: At 11:00 we'll proceed to the main event at Andy Poolhall (489 College Street), where there will be dancing, drinking, and billiards. Come shake a tailfeather, or just hang back and watch others embarrass themselves.
Feel free to join the festivities at any point. But these things being what they are, we suggest you call Jonathan to verify that we are on schedule and proceeding according to plan:.

To book a room at the reduced conference rate, use the form linked here. The hotel is nearly sold out, so book as soon as possible to get the conference rate.

Airports
Most visitors will use Toronto's main airport, Pearson International (YYZ). Pearson is a 45 minute taxi ride from the hotel, or 45-60 minutes by public transport. Taxis cost approximately $60 CAD, and can be hailed on the ground floor outside the terminal. Public transport is $3 CAD: take TTC bus #192 from the ground floor to the KIpling Subway station (the last stop), then take the subway to the St. George stop, about one block from the hotel.

Visitors coming from certain cities in Canada and the U.S. may be able to fly into Toronto's downtown island airport (YTZ), which is served by Porter Airlines. This airport is 10-15 minutes from the hotel by taxi (about $15) and 20 minutes by public transport ($3: take the free Porter shuttle to Union Station, then the subway to the St. George stop).
