Research interests include: Political violence, ethnicity and race, African politics (especially Rwanda and the Great Lakes), and field methods. She is the author of Killing Neighbors: Webs of violence in Rwanda (Cornell University Press, 2009) and is currently researching her second book, which is on local involvement in violence in three very different sites of killing (Bosnia, Rwanda, and the United States). Her articles have appeared in the Journal of Peace Research, Security Studies, and PS: Politics and Political Science. Her work has been supported by the Connaught New Researcher Program, the United States Institute of Peace, Fulbright, the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, and two Dilthey faculty grants from the George Washington University. Prior to joining UTM, she was Assistant Professor of Political Science and program coordinator in the Women’s Leadership Program at the George Washington University.
