Geologic Maps

The UTM Library receives all maps produced by the Geological Survey of Canada. These are filed by NTS number under Geology Maps –Canada.

Thematic Maps

The UTM Library has a small collection of Thematic Maps covering Canada and the rest of the world. The Library adds all National Geographic maps and purchases new thematic maps in support of UTM research and instruction. Locate a map in the collection by selecting from one of the two menus below: the one on the left allows you to navigate the collection alphabetically, while the one on the right organizes the maps by geographical regions.

Topographic Maps (Canada)

The UTM Library is a full depository for all cartographic materials produced by the Government of Canada. We have the complete series of current National Topographic Series (NTS) maps for Canada at the 1:50,000 and 1: 250,000 scales. The NTS provides detailed coverage showing ground relief (landforms and terrain), drainage (lakes and rivers), forest cover, administrative areas, populated areas, transportation routes and facilities (including roads and railways), and other man-made features.

We also have the 1:25,000 city series and the 1:1,000,000 series. Each of these series are now out of print. Please consult this online index or paper indexes on top of the map cases to search for 1:50,000 and 1:250,000 maps.

For topographic maps of Mississauga and the UTM campus, the reference number is 30M for 1:250,000 and 30M12 for 1:50,000.

Topographic Maps (Ontario)

The UTM Library has a small collection of Ontario Base Maps for the Golden Horseshoe Area, including Mississauga. The OBM reference number for the UTM campus is 60504820.
