Description
A survey of the shorter forms of Italian literature from the Baroque period to present times. Emphasis will be given to poems and "novelle", but theoretical pieces and short plays of recognized literary significance will also be examined. [26L]

This course will be taught in Italian. The use of English is not totally excluded, however. The texts willk be read in Italian. Students are expected to do their written work, at home in Italian. Oral presentations are also to be done in Italian. 

Exclusion:  ITA 229Y, 230Y5

Prerequisite: OAC Italian/or equivalent/ITA100Y5Y.

Co-requisite: ITA200Y5Y

Marking Scheme
 
In class tests
NB: There will be no make-up test.  Students may have the option of writing a cumulative test at the end of the term by presenting a university approved doctor’s note to the instructor.  The cumulative test, with appropriate documentation, can substitute ONE missed test.

Oral Presentation (and handout)  20%
