Testimonials from students:

"I was really disgusted to find cigarette butts hidden in rocks bordering the CCT building as well as in the grass and leaves. It's no wonder that animals mistake them for food, choke and die. I looked around while cleaning and noticed that there was only one garbage can designated to the prime smoking locations but they were right beside the building which is not useful for those who just smoke, flick and leave. There is a certain distance away from the building where people are allowed to smoke and unfortunetly no one makes the effort to "flick" into the garbage after they are done. I was really disappointed to see all the butts that had accumulated and hope people learn to appriciate the beauty on campus with out them." - Suma Abid“
I was cleaning cigarette butts at the smoking area by the library and Starbucks. I couldn't believe the amount of people that would walk past a garbage can to "flick" their butts on the grass and gardened areas. And many of the butts that we saw were in difficult places for someone to go and collect them and clean up after them. And why should someone have to clean up after them? Are we not adults? Do we not want to be treated like adults? Yet smokers are doing such a childish act by littering and damaging our environment. You wouldn't throw your butts on the floor of your house, so why is it okay to do it outside?” – Darcie McNeill
