Prometheus Bound (...and bound again)
A Double Bill
co-produced by the Environmental Theatre Workshop and McMaster University
Performed in November 1996.

Act One, PROMETHEUS BOUND, was a production of the Greek tragedy by Aeschylus, created with choral voices. Prometheus was represented by a stage-sized mask, other characters through shared movement-based performances. Prometheus, the Titan, is chained to a rock at the end of the world for stealing fire and giving it to the struggling, failing species, humanity.
Act Two, BOUND AGAIN, was an original work created by the cast, inspired by the story of Prometheus and the rehearsal process. The result was a collective creation using monologues, scenes, dance, and music to explore the politics of the tragedy.
