Connaught Fund 2014

Researchers at U of T Mississauga will get a funding boost to support projects that range in varied topics from illegal gun smuggling at the Windsor-Detroit border, to evolution and early stages of animal life, and to reasoning and desire in the Victorian novel. 

Overall the New Researcher program provided over $920,000 to 53 faculty members across the university. To see the full list and article, please refer to the Research News section of the U of T website.

Last Thursday in front of a large gathering in the Faculty Club, Ian Whyte averred his passion for books. “Personally, I love books. I read anything and everything, and, being an academic librarian, that’s probably a good thing,” declared Whyte, U of T Mississauga’s Chief Librarian. With this intro he helped to kick off UTM’s inaugural Celebration of Books.

Diabetes Discovery

An article recently published in Nature Genetics, in which Professor Parra is an investigator, is the largest study of its kind to elucidate the genetic factors involved in type-2 diabetes.

The study was a collaboration by several researchers from many different countries including Australia, China, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Japan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, United Kingdom, and USA.
