Indigenous Initiatives

The Waawaahte Northern Lights Initiative provides many opportunities for students to engage with various Traditional Aboriginal cultures. The intention of these programs is to provide a space for transformational learning and growth to take place while building strong partnerships and an appreciation for the knowledge of Canada’s Aboriginal peoples.

There are four main areas within the portfolio of the Waawaahte Northern Lights Initiative:

Students at native reserve working outdoors

It is important to note that students are welcome to attend all events associated with the WNLI, whether they are of Aboriginal ancestry or not.

In addition we welcome further involvement for students, both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal through the Aboriginal Working Group for UTM, which has been established to look at the various issues that face Aboriginal identity on the UTM Campus. For further information about these programs or this group please contact the Traditional Aboriginal Indigenous Elder cat.criger@utoronto.ca
